Whenever a discussion on trans or gay issues is happening there is always someone who says “seem like you don’t go outside and don’t talk to elder queers heh…” and it is so weird in my opinion.

The most enraging example is people discussing “ftm lesbians” and saying that “akshually they existed in the 80’s so they’re hecking valid!!1!” as if something existing before the year 2000 makes it some divine rule set in stone.

I don’t think we should be idealising people just because they were born a few years before us. I feel like that is pretty much agreed on when we discuss how older generations normalised child abuse etc… the point is, many views from that time are now considered outdated, for a good reason.

I don’t care that someone in the 80’s identified as a “bi gendered boychick” and them being older isn’t going to make me respect them any more.

Also these people love picking and choosing which “elder queer” views they accept because somehow they’re VERY against the word transsexual.

Feel free to share your thoughts especially if you’re from an older generation, just wanted to rant
