Edit: I may be mis-remembering. I do remember some kind of holographic plastic cover journal that looked like that.

If I recall correctly you could draw with an dry erase marker on the inside and it would dissolve the material for the cover and make it transparent. Something like that.

That would have been my second and third semesters of my senior year in college, if I hadn't run out of money in my fourth year, and had to drop out. Thankfully The USN allowed me to finish my education as an officer and a Navy Nuke.

I had one for grade 12. I doubt I used it other than the first page and maybe one or two days. I was not an organized person and definitely not an organized student.
