    Depends on what. LLMs, sure, but AI models, called neural networks before, have been in use in a lot of physics simulations for a long time. At its base, it's a huge number cruncher. How you crunch the numbers makes rhe difference.

    Indeed, I meant mostly LLMs, but also image generating AIs. I don't know of they have much in common in the way they work, but what is commonly described as generative AI. They are responsible for A) the hype and B) the horrible bullshit, mayhem and destruction being visited on the world ever since their spread.

    I said "hampered any practical use" not "no practical use" maybe I should have left out the "any" but I never said absolutes, hampered means it's been made difficult.

    apparently AI has been used to ensure that commercial airlines maintain horizontal flight even when there is no pilot.

    apparently AI has been used to determine where mechanical stress occurs on 3D models based on the material and environmental factors, leading to safer products.

    but yeah no, go ahead and liken AI to an unintelligible LLM because "AI" totally needs to make recipes that include glue, sewer water, and cat shit.

    I think you may have eaten a bit too much of the "AI" bullshit.
