Also we are thinking about, to put in an Automoderation tool that could help us a lot. Because its currently not easy for us to scan every new comments and reports are rare currently. We want your opinons on that too, because its important to us that this community is based on the people here.

The Trump administration’s plans to stymie and defund bike lane plans in the US, on the unusual basis that they are DEI tools, will hurt efforts to improve roadway safety, non-motorized transportation advocates say.

The transportation secretary, Sean Duffy, posted on X this month that he had redirected $1.73bn allocated for “Biden-era DEI pet projects” to “America’s actual backbone: ROADS, BRIDGES, AND SHIPPING PORTS”.

Duffy did not explain how the transportation department would determine which bike lanes support diversity, equity and inclusion. The administration also recently removed bike lanes and speed cameras from the Federal Highway Administration’s list of proven safety countermeasures.

One that just came up was a short film about science fiction writer Ray Bradbury from 1963. I just happened to click on it right as he was saying:

Our automobiles slaughter forty thousand people a year, maim a hundred thousand more, and bring out the worst in man. Any society where a natural man, the pedestrian, becomes the intruder, and unnatural man encased in a steel shell becomes his molester, is a science fiction nightmare.

It was really interesting to hear this sentiment expressed in America in 1963, a decade in which I always imagined car ownership to be seen as a modern ideal and a cultural mainstay. Was surprised to hear him say that in a black and white video from that era.

The Saudis have remained a major source of financial support for Lucid Motors since it went public, buying up shares and lending billions of dollars as the company has struggled to reach a mass market of EV buyers in the U.S. and abroad.

Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Hong Kong are all terrible at managing transit costs. Meanwhile, nations like France, Spain, South Korea and Turkey are running laps around the Anglosphere, building world-class transit at unprecedented speeds for prices up to four times cheaper. There is no reason for building transit to cost this much. Follow me as we unpack the staggering reasons that costs have spiralled out of control, and what we can do about it. Car brains are fine with state licenses, state subsidies, destroying the planet, etc... But monitoring their driving is a step too far.

A car alarm vendor’s coding mistake has left millions of vehicles vulnerable to theft and location tracking. Thanks to the way dealers sell car alarms, many affected drivers don’t even know they have one installed.

The device is the KARR Security System, a Bluetooth-enabled aftermarket alarm built by Acrisure Protection Group. It’s installed by dealers, primarily at Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Ford, and Jeep dealerships in Southern California.

Every KARR device shares the same authentication key, and it’s stored in plain text inside the KARR smartphone app. Extract it once and you can communicate with any KARR-equipped vehicle made since 2017. That is what the researchers did.

Dead end industry, dead end for humanity.
